Office Update: Permanent Closure of Williams Lake and 100 Mile House Offices

It is with sadness that I must announce I will be closing my offices here in the south/central Cariboo, effective one month from today. Due to family circumstances and events beyond my control (including COVID-19), I will be relocating to Alberta to be closer to family as of August 16th, 2020.

The last day for appointments and supplement pick-ups at my 100 Mile House office will be Friday August 7th. The last day for appointments and supplement pick-ups at my Williams Lake office will be Friday August 14th. Please see my online booking website for specific appointment availability and location details (drkatiedegroot.janeapp.com). For those patients with lab orders outstanding, I will be contacting you within the next few days to discuss options going forward.

Please know that it is not my plan or intention to abandon the many people I have worked with during my time here in the Cariboo. But unfortunately, circumstances dictate I must move – and move quickly. Please be assured, I intend to do whatever necessary to ensure continuity of care. I am hopeful at least one of the following options will be a good fit:

  • I will remain available to both new and returning patients in BC after August 16th by telemedicine only. “Virtual visits” can be booked online (or by phone or email), and will take place using either a secure video conferencing portal or over the telephone.
  • I am working to find a licensed naturopathic doctor to take over my practices in both Williams Lake and 100 Mile House. Thus far I have no one confirmed, but I will be sure to provide an update if this changes.
  • If you would like to continue care with another licensed naturopathic doctor, the next nearest Naturopathic Doctors are located in Quesnel to the north and Kamloops to the south-east. To access doctor profiles and find contact information, please refer to the BC Naturopathic Association’s website (www.bcna.ca) or call them during office hours toll-free at 1 800-277-1128.  The BCNA maintains a database of naturopathic doctors licensed to practice in BC and is searchable by name, therapy, test and ailment.

Chart notes that I have made and records that have been provided to me will remain with me when I move to Alberta. To request copy of your chart to take to another naturopathic doctor or licensed health professional, please let me know. At any time, an electronic copy can be provided to you at no charge through my secure online patient portal, or a printed copy can be provided for a fee of 5 cents per page (to cover the cost of printing).

Again, I apologize for the short notice of my departure and I apologize for any inconvenience this causes. These are turbulent times and things have been changing rapidly. I must admit, I have delayed this notification for as long as possible, trying to find options other than a move to Alberta. Unfortunately at this point in time, this is the best move I can make.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns about this transition. Despite moving to Alberta, my contact information will not change; I can be reached by phone (250 305 9188) or email (info@drkatiedegroot.ca). For further practice updates and changes, please refer to my Facebook page (@DrKatieDeGroot), office website (drkatiedegroot.ca) or online booking site (drkatiedegroot.janeapp.com).

I have greatly enjoyed my time in the Cariboo and will miss this region and its people very much. So, thank you again for your patience and support over these past few years, and all the best going forward!

Sincerely,

Dr Katie DeGroot, Naturopathic Doctor
